What is reconciliation between source and transformed data?

Reconciliation means proving transformed data matches the original source values.
I compare totals, counts, and key metrics between source system and Power BI output.
Common checks: row count, total revenue, order quantity, unique customers.
Example: ERP showed ₹12.4M sales — dashboard had ₹12.38M → found missing cancelled orders filter.
I usually validate at daily and monthly aggregation levels.
I also reconcile after joins to ensure no duplication occurred.
Differences are documented and discussed with business before release.
Often maintained as a reconciliation sheet or QA report.
Goal is data accuracy and stakeholder confidence in reports.
