- Metadata is information that describes the data, like field names, data types, and definitions. In my projects, I used metadata to understand tables, columns, and business meanings quickly. For example, data dictionaries helped clarify how metrics like “active customer” were calculated. A challenge was missing or outdated metadata in legacy systems. This caused confusion during analysis. I worked with teams to document and update definitions. As an alternative, I added descriptions directly in BI tools. This improved consistency and faster onboarding.
