Dashboard usability testing is the process of evaluating a dashboard to ensure it is easy to understand, navigate, and use effectively by the target audience.
It focuses on:
- Clarity: Can users quickly grasp key insights?
- Navigation: Are filters, slicers, drill-downs, and page flows intuitive?
- Interactivity: Do visuals respond correctly to selections and cross-filtering?
- Performance: Does the dashboard load quickly and run smoothly?
- Design consistency: Are colors, fonts, and layouts uniform and readable?
In one project, we conducted usability testing with managers:
- They identified confusing KPIs and unclear drill-through paths.
- We revised titles, reduced clutter, and added guided navigation.
Usability testing ensures dashboards are user-friendly, actionable, and adopted effectively by stakeholders.
