What is productivity analysis?

Productivity analysis is the process of measuring output delivered compared to the input or effort spent.
In my project, I tracked productivity by comparing number of user stories completed versus planned in each sprint.
For example, if the team committed to 20 story points and delivered 18, productivity was 90%.
I also measured effort hours spent on requirement clarifications versus actual analysis work.
We found repeated requirement rework was reducing analyst productivity.
After introducing structured BRD templates and early stakeholder sign-off, rework reduced significantly.
As a result, average sprint delivery improved from 80% to 95%.
Productivity analysis helps in optimizing resource utilization and improving team performance.
