What is data enrichment?

Data enrichment means enhancing existing data by adding additional useful information.
We combined internal sales data with external region demographic dataset.
In my project, we added customer segment based on purchase behavior.
Geo mapping added state and zone using postal code reference table.
Derived fields like age group were created from date of birth.
Product category hierarchy was added from master reference data.
This enabled deeper analysis and better business insights.
Users could compare performance across segments and regions.
Enrichment was done during transformation before modeling.
So it makes data more meaningful for decision making.
