A business problem statement clearly defines the issue a project aims to solve.
It describes the gap between current and desired performance.
In one project, the problem statement was “Sales reporting is inconsistent, causing delayed decisions.”
It identifies who is affected and why it matters.
A good statement is specific, measurable, and focused on business impact.
As a BA, I use it to guide requirement gathering and solution design.
It ensures all stakeholders have a shared understanding of the problem.
It sets the foundation for defining objectives and success criteria.
